Who Am I ?

The challenge was to adapt “Who am I” by Ramana Maharishi for Gen-Z, making it visually engaging while preserving the book's philosophical depth. I analysed the text to identify core themes like self-awareness, introspection, illusion, and meditation, and explored how to reflect these in a way that appeals to younger audiences.

To capture the essense of the text, I designed an illustrated adaptation that balances visual intrigue with the book's authenticity. I created a series of monochromatic blue illustrations that evoke calm and mindfulness, aligning with the text's introspective themes. The gender-neutral visually inclusive illustrations didn’t just complement the text but built a parallel narrative, providing additional layers of meaning with each picture. They were crafted carefully to maintain a subtle balance between modern visual appeal and the timeless spiritual themes of the original work. In line with this, I selected typography that captured the classic and enduring nature of the text while ensuring legibility through contemporary layouts based on the golden ratio, resulting in a design that felt both modern and respectful of the book's essence.
